Commercial property owners are often unaware that their property is holding thousands of pounds of unclaimed tax relief in the form of Embedded Capital Allowances. These are allowances on items of plant and machinery and integral features such as air conditioning, wiring and plumbing – essentially everything that would remain in the property if you tipped it upside down.
As long as your client owns a commercial property and they pay UK tax then they are entitled to claim. It is very unlikely that their Accountant or Solicitor will have already made a claim as a Chartered Surveyor will need to visit the property and a Chartered Tax Advisor prepare a report for acceptance by HMRC.
